County Council 2026 To-Do List

January 17, 2026 This is going to be a busy year at County Council. The following are some of the major items we have on our 2026 to-do list. BUDGET MONITORING: The 2026-7 biennial budget was narrowly balanced with optimistic numbers on some items on both the revenue and expenditure side. January 17, 2026 Preliminary site work on the new jail has begun at the site along Transportation Blvd in Garfield Heights. Legislation was introduced in Council on Tuesday, January 13 to extend the preliminary contract with Gilbane and add funds, which will take us to the time when the full construction contract is approved with a guaranteed maximum price (GMP) and the bonds are sold.
