Accomplishments
- Dale has a strong record of accomplishments for our community.
- As Chairman of the Aviation & Transportation Committee, passed enabling legislation for the Cleveland Business Parks near Hopkins Airport. Supported the Cleveland-Brook Park land swap, enabling the City of Cleveland to expand the airport and the City of Brook Park and improve conditions along its front yard on Brook Park Road.
- Completed major neighborhood projects including the Puritas Street Rehabilitation and Sewer Project, Cleveland Business Park, Emerald Corporate Park, replacement of the low-clearance bridge on West 130th Street, and organization of the Bellaire-Puritas Development Corporation.
- As State Legislator, helped defeat State Issue 2 which was designed to substantially reduced workers compensation benefits.
- As Ranking Democrat on the Senate Finance Committee, helped Lee Fisher save the Ohio Department of Development from draconian cuts in the 2007 Republican House budget.
- Prime sponsor of the “Home First” bill, enabling more senior citizens to get home or community based care instead of moving to a nursing home.
- Obtained funding for Adult Protective Services to help seniors hurt by abuse or neglect.
- Helped obtain funding to keep the Beck Center in Lakewood.
- Helped obtain state capital bill funding in the Gordon Square Arts District
- Founding Board Member of the Great Lakes Science Center.
- Supported the school facilities funding that communities like Lakewood have used so effectively to build new, modern schools.
- Helped bring major Cleveland construction projects to reality including Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum, Great Lakes Science Center, Jacobs Field, and Browns Stadium.
- Passed legislation designating May as Nutrition & Physical Fitness Month in Ohio.
- Played major role in passage of House Bill 313, Ohio’s Best Rx, a statewide prescription drug discount bill, late in 2003.
